Sketchbook Month – Day 24

Today’s sketch for Sketchbook Month is brought to you by our little post-neuter whippet puppy. He’s been making a giant fuss about wearing his cone and he finally slept in it this morning which will hopefully lead to a smoother night tonight.

Sketchbook Month – Day 7

Today’s sketch for Sketchbook Month is inspired by our whippet puppy. He’s super energetic and smart, but if the leash is touching his leg at all, he refuses to move. I drew him in a mask and cape because I’ve been brainstorming for the Superheroes collaboration over at Society6.

I’m the Boss!

It’s not quite a CPK comic, but obviously my husband and the dog have made another appearance. A few big projects have gotten in the way of my comics-making which has been frustrating, but I did manage to get this quick one done. ┬áIt was drawn on a Moleskine folio sketchbook and I had some issues finding the right tool for drawing in it. I started the first panel with microns but they soaked in too much and when I erased pencil lines it lifted some of the ink. Then I switched to a Tachikawa School G Nip pen which worked a bit better, but it bleeds a little and it’s harder to get a super thick line. I think I’ll have to go with a dip pen for future projects in this particular book. I bought the book so I could collect all my comics in one place. Right now it seems silly but when it’s full of comics I know I’ll enjoy looking back through it.

Happy Holidays and Thank you!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Thank you so much to everyone who has been reading the blog, following me on Twitter and/or supporting my first year as an illustrator. The support of friends (both online and off) and family (especially my husband Chris) has meant the world to me.

2010 brought many milestones including my first published illustration and I am in the process of writing down my goals for 2011, of which there are many, to be posted next week.

Also, we now have an adorable whippet puppy named Jad (after Jad Abumrad of RadioLab) and he would also like to wish you Happy Holidays.
